We're hiring a Mechanical Technical Writer to join our dynamic Sydney-based team! In this role, you’ll support the delivery of traffic, automation, and control systems (ITS) projects by producing clear and accurate technical documentation—including engineering procedures, QA/QC documents, installation manuals, and maintenance guides. You'll work closely with engineers and quality teams to ensure all content meets compliance standards and supports the successful implementation of our mechanical and ITS solutions.
We are looking for someone with passion and drive who will be responsible for:
Develop and maintain technical documentation for mechanical and ITS-related systems, including engineering procedures, SOPs, QA/QC documents, and installation or maintenance manuals.
Collaborate with engineers, quality teams, and project stakeholders to gather accurate information and translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content.
Ensure all documentation complies with company standards, branding, and relevant Australian and international regulations, incorporating supporting visuals such as diagrams and schematics where needed.
Manage version control, document updates, and archival using platforms like SharePoint, while supporting continuous improvement of templates and documentation processes.
Participate in audits, quality reviews, and meetings to contribute to documentation planning, with flexibility to take on ad-hoc duties as required.
The successful applicant will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Communication, or a strong trade related background with at least 2 years of technical writing/documentation experience in mechanical or infrastructure engineering.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical components, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) products, and traffic-related technologies (e.g., movable barriers, detection loops, solar signage), plus familiarity with quality management standards like ISO 9001.
Excellent English writing skills with strong attention to detail; experience with Microsoft Office and documentation platforms such as SharePoint.
Proficiency or experience with visual design tools like AutoCAD, Visio, or similar is a plus.
Self-motivated, able to work remotely, and flexible to align work hours with Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) teams.
